We carry out all manner of structural repairs, from consolidating loose joints and repairing breakages to the complete replacement of missing elements. All repairs are carried out using traditional hand skills and materials.

Using traditional methods and materials we can both consolidate loose veneers and carefully replace missing or damaged sections to match original material. Anything from small individual repairs to extensive conservation projects.

Much of the history and value of a piece of furniture is in the finish we therefore, make every effort to retain original surfaces. However, when an original surface is too badly degraded we use traditional methods, including French polishing, to sympathetically refinish the piece.

We carry out the upholstery of antique furniture using traditional materials and hand stitching to sculpt pieces of furniture to last a generation.

Sadly now a dying art, we undertake all repairs to caned furniture, from single chairs to Bergere suites. In addition to the basic 7 way pattern we can also carry out a variety of decorative patterns frequently found on chair backs etc. We also work with sheet cane.
