Learn Traditional Chair Caning
Dating as far back as 200BC, the six-way weave is the standard pattern used on the majority of cane furniture.
Once the basic pattern is mastered, it can be woven into a limitless array of shapes, from basic square seats to sunbursts, centre medallions and everything in between.
With a little patience and creativity, you can soon discover a very rewarding hobby.
1 day beginners course
On this one day course students are introduced to the centuries old craft of cane seating. Learning, step by step, how to weave in the standard six-way pattern found on most cane furniture.
No previous experience is necessary and all tools and materials are provided.
By the end of the day students will have a completed panel to take away (variety of shapes available) and hopefully, the confidence to tackle their first restoration project!
Courses run 09:30-16:30(approx) Price: £150.00
Please note: Our online store is still under construction. To book, call or email Edward to arrange your booking. An invoice with payment details will then be emailed to you and your booking confirmed.

"Great course. I started the day having never done any caning before and by the end day I felt confident to work on projects alone. Really informative, relaxed session. Would highly recommend "
- Gemma
"Edward is a very good tutor and explained the step by step process. You work at your own pace and Edward is happy to go back and explain again if you get stuck. This is a dying craft, so well done to Edward for passing his knowledge forward. Definately well worth doing."
